Quick Baby Update

I finally heard back from the doctor's office yesterday. I don't go see the specialists until June 23rd! I feel like that is a VERY long time from now but I am sure it will fly by. They need the baby to get bigger so they can see what is going on in there. I am trying to just not think about it until then. The good news is the baby is very active, she loves swimming, just like her mom and has recently flipped over. You might ask how I know this...Tuesday night we went to see Wicked, it was awesome by the way, and the baby decided to start kicking my bladder...VERY interesting...and since it has been flipping back and forth between my stomach and my organs, strange child. Also, my stomach has grown exponentially this past week so there is no doubt the baby is thriving in there. I go in next Wednesday for a "tummy check" with the doctor. I am starting to feel large and in charge.

It's Official

It's official, the ultrasound tech at the Ob's office hates me. I am not sure what I have done to make her dislike me so much and at this point it is kind of comical. Normally I would agree with you if you said that I am just being sensitive, but my mom has been with me now all three visits and she said it is obvious that she doesn't like me and we can't figure out why! The only thing that I can think of is she doesn't appreciate my humor. I guess that can happen but I haven't really come across anyone yet that so blatantly dislikes me from the second they meet me. Some of the comments I have made that seem to have upset her -

1) in the second ultrasound the baby was eating the entire time and so she went into detail, as if I haven't read my book, about how the baby is eating the amniotic fluid which is nutrients and urine - I said, I try not to tell my husband those kinds of details because it is gross (well it is!) and she was very offended and said it was a beautiful thing, blah blah blah.

2) I said, is this the way the baby is positioned because I always feel her kick on the right...she said, the baby is not kicking, it is stretching...but in a snooty tone, as if anyone says, oh the baby is stretching...come on lady

3) when she was showing us what was what she made it so you see the baby face on, instead of the cute profile you normally see in people's ultrasound pictures - for those of you who haven't had a child yet, it is scary! It looks like a little alien because the baby isn't fat yet and it really disturbed me, I made John cut those pictures out because I can't stand to look at them. Leslie told me that was normal and that the same thing happened when she was pregnant with Cooper.

4) when she told me yesterday that the baby now measures at 1.1 lbs I said, oh good now the baby is the size of one of those octomom's smallest babies....crickets...

My mom thinks that part of the reason she doesn't like me is because I am not very sentimental and I don't cry when I see the baby on the screen. I actually spend most of the time laughing because it is so funny to see that little human in there and when it moves you can actually see it moving on the screen. I still think it is kind of weird to think there is a little baby in there, I guess I am still adjusting.

Lastly, the main reason I know this lady doesn't like me is she refuses to do the 4D picture of the baby, she says the baby is too skinny but everyone else seems to get this picture taken at 20 weeks...what gives???
***Update****
Good news and bad news: The Dr's office called and said that the baby's kidney's are dilated. I am not sure what this means but have taken to the internet to try to find out. Apparently it happens in about 1 in 200 babies, most of them boy babies...so maybe we should be thinking blue? anyway, they are working on getting me in to see a specialist at EVMS so we will know more about what we are working with. The good news: I will probably get to have at least one more ultrasound and it will be with a new ultrasound tech! Hopefully this one will appreciate my humor more than the last one.

Kate's Hair

My post from earlier about the Gosselins and their current family drama received one of this blog's first comments, thanks Claire! Claire suggests that instead of talking about their family drama, which seems to get worse every day from what I can tell on Perez Hilton, we SHOULD be talking about Kate's hair. I agree. It is a whole other level of heinousness. John says this is a Jersey cut, I haven't ever been to New Jersey but from what I can tell on TV they have a very interesting sense of style up there. I can't decide what is worse about this haircut, the reverse mullet style going on or the dye job...see pictures below for the skunk streaks.

What in the world is going on in the back? The saddest thing I found while looking online for pictures is that many people think this is a beautiful hairstyle and they try to emulate it! Why would you PAY someone to look like this?

How Much Milk is TOO Much?

People are always asking me if I am having any strange cravings since I have been pregnant. I would generally say no but John says that I live my life as one big craving because I am so picky and only want to eat what I want to eat when I want to eat it. That is more true now than ever. One thing that I will admit has gotten a little out of hand is my obsession with milk. I have always liked milk and switching to Skim after college because of my cholesterol was sad but I adjusted. Since getting pregnant I have been buying one gallon of organic skim milk (no thanks to Claire I can no longer tolerate regular milk as the thought makes me gag, ask her for details) and one half gallon of this delicious Horizons 2% milk with DHA (DHA is in my prenatal vitamin so I figured it MUST be good for me :) We always finish both in the course of a week, probably because I drink anywhere from 4-6 glasses of milk a day. Is this too much? How much milk it too much milk? One thing is certain, this baby will have STRONG bones!!

P.S. Doesn't that top picture make you want to go have a big glass? Yum!!

Bed Rest??

Apparently I had too much fun in Amelia Island and proceeded to work to hard when we returned. Somehow I managed to pull one of my stomach muscles, I mean I have heard of people doing this later in pregnancy when you get really big but this early? The doctor put me on bed rest for the weekend and told me to stay put so I could heal. I didn't think it would be too bad of a deal but we had a lot of parties to go to and I didn't want to miss out. So where ever we went I found a chair and sat and hoped people would come to talk to me :) Lucky for me I have great friends who are happy to wait on me and sit and chat. Today, Monday, I am feeling much better and just about healed up. Wednesday we go back to the doctors for that follow up ultrasound. I am excited to see the baby again and hopefully everything is fine. Remember us on your prayer list!

Traumatized

I am so sad about all that I have read online lately about Jon and Kate plus 8. I have been secretly hoping that it is just some kind of media ploy but every day it seems to get worse. When John and I first got married I used to watch A LOT of TLC because I didn't have a job that first month in Alexandria and we didn't have many friends (day time television is rough!) I was instantly drawn to the precious little kids, the older ones, Maddie and Cara, annoy me, but the little ones were so cute and you never knew what was going to happen. The whole idea of multiples is very interesting in general, don't you think? Anyway, Kate is a major hag and yells at her poor husband all the time. My husband John said he didn't like me watching it because he was worried I would model her behavior, men! But I liked how even though they fought, they were real and made it work for them.

Now I am reading that it is NOT working and apparently she is even worse than she is portrayed on the show. Her amazing friends and family would often take all of the kids (I cannot imagine, I can't even handle 2 of my brother's kids at the same time, let alone 8) and I guess TLC thought they should get paid when they were on the show. So Kate had them cut so they wouldn't get paid. That is just mean. I am very intrigued to see where this goes. Thoughts?

Update: Baby at 20 weeks

Last week I went to the doctor for my 20 week checkup and ultrasound. Everything seems to be going well and it was finally confirmed that we are having a Cliff after all. No, we don't know the baby's sex but the baby was eating the ENTIRE time! It was really funny to watch and of course John and Mom missed it, but I am very perceptive. We had to keep our eyes closed for a while when they were checking out what the baby is...John totally caught my mom cheating! But she forgot to bring her glasses so she said she couldn't see anything. I guess if she had seen anything we would know by now :) I have to go back next week for a follow up ultrasound because they needed to see something about the kidneys so if you are the praying type, add us to your list! Enjoy the pictures, the baby is much more "baby-looking" now.

Brad and Katie's Wedding Weekend

We had the best time in Amelia Island, FL for Brad and Katie's wedding! Highlights from the weekend include:

*Charlie "making it rain" at multiple times during the weekend - no one has explained to me what this means but it is funny bc he looks like Frankenstein
*Getting my hair did for the wedding and friday night party
*finding the hospitality room
*frozen mojitos
*Showing the bridesmaids that you don't take on Virginia Beach women when it comes to dominating the dance floor
*Maria single handedly taking on the "bad speech" bridesmaid on stage
*My husband being possessed during the wedding reception and dancing his face off
*Realizing that my boobs are finally bigger than Claire's (a life-long ambition)
*John telling everyone about my blog and being harassed about it all weekend
*the classy couple "doing it" on their balcony during the middle of the friday night luau

Feel free to add anything I am missing under the comments section.

Enjoy the pics!

You're in the Dog House Watson!

I can already tell that thanks to John my readership has more than doubled. This makes me very nervous to say the least. So, I will do my best to keep it interesting but I can't make any promises. I am working VERY hard to edit all of my photos from the wedding this weekend, I have 120 so it might be a while.

Coop turns 2!

This weekend my niece, Cooper, turns 2. Since John, Mom, Dad and I will all be in Amelia Island for Brad and Katie's wedding, we celebrated a week early at Mom and Dad's house. They have been working extra hard to turn their house and backyard into Wally's World, now complete with: a pool, a putting green, a slide/swing/climbing wall contraption and a bounce house!
Here are some cute pictures from the party:

Cooper enjoying her birthday cupcake, very careful not to be messy

Coop on her new pink Rody Horse I gave her, here she is shouting no to me, her favorite response to me trying to take her picture :)

Three good looking men: Vaughan, John and Dad

Cooper in her new bounce house - weight limit 250lbs...needless to say none of the adults were brave enough to try out the limits of this one

How cute is my husband?

Cville Visit

Sunday we went up to Charlottesville for Cliff's king of the dorks ceremony. It was actually a really nice drive up there, I drove mom's suburban and had John, Bucky (my grandmother) and her sister, Kathy, in the car with me. In true Allison form I talked the whole way there and loved being able to catch up with the two of them since I really don't get to see them all that often. Enjoy the pictures below:

Yay Cliffie, you're the man!!

It was so much fun to go up to Charlottesville and walk around after Cliff's ceremony. UVA is so pretty year round, with every season being so different. It was over 95degrees and we were melting. I think I got a nice preview of what the summer entails for this pregnant lady and I am nervous.
